Joe The Plumber

What are your thoughts on this guy????

I heard that he is not a licensed plumber. Also have you seen Barack Obama's Slam on Plumbers today?

He said "A Plumber...that's who John McCain is fighting for?...how many plumbers do you know that make a quater-million dollars a year?" I don't know about you but
I think that is a slam

I heard a little of the debate last night but I just read an article about Plumber Joe http://news.aol.com/elections/debate...996x1200673809 and I am a small business owner. I have a few comments I am dying to make.

1. If Joe thinks he is going to buy a business that is netting over $250,000 a year, I want to know how much he is paying for it and how he will get financing.

2. I doubt Joe Plumber even knows what the difference is between gross and net.

3. How much is Joe Plumber making now that he thinks he can't afford to make $250,000 and pay the taxes?

I think this Joe Plumber thing is completely taking advantage of a guy that doesn't even know what he is talking about. He probably wants to buy the business but has no business experience and no idea what he is talking about, like most of the country listening to him.

I don't have a particular favorite candidate, though I do know who I am voting for. I just have to say that Joe Plumber is an unfair representation of the average small business person.

I don't think Barrack was slamming plumbers just offering a reality check.

Hi Michelle, you raise good points.

But why would you assume that "Joe the Plumber" would not know the difference between gross and net?

This is a stereo type that is not fair.

And I consider Obama's remarks offensive and take it more than a "reality check" but a down talking to the average "Joe"

The reason I assumed he didn't know the difference was because of the way he said he couldn't afford to own the business because of the taxes. That just doesn't make any sense. Hence, he probably doesn't understand how it all works. I run into people that don't understand the difference in net and gross all the time.

I am self employed and will be lucky to make (net) $50,000 this year. That is reality.

Oh, and those people that don't understand the difference between net and gross are the same people that think a tax deduction is the same as a tax credit.
